This was written after a bad day at work at a job that I Hate.
Troubled Soul
by
Justin Highland

What is it like to live with your soul
to actually live a life not stuck in a hole,
to ride on the wind without half a care?
I tell you my friend this just doesn’t seem fair

Everywhere I look the “well-to-do” are off doing
while the people like me, always seem to be struggling.
This isn’t a hand only dealt to one soul
I truly believe we’ve all been stuck in a hole.

How do I get out?
Just what should I do?
What did you do, when this happened to you?
Is there some sort of button that I should just press?
A button just made for this kind of a mess?
No?
Okay, that might be too easy
I would settle for help–I’m really not greedy.
What do you mean?
I’ll have to figure it out?
There’s only a matter of time and it’s about to run out.
Just give me a hint or the smallest clue
right at this moment, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do
if only at least, just to survive,
maybe have a good job where I’m not always tired..

So many things that I want to be
too many places that I’ve yet to see
I’m not just a person living life with no goals
not being able to reach them...
Is what traps my soul
