A short story which leaves the reader in suspense. Great for imaginative readers.
Auré stared into the water, his light brown hair falling across his eyes, illuminated by the moon that shone through it.  The bitter wind iced his face and numbed his fingertips as he clutched the side of the bridge with one hand and stared deeply into the water below.  His cheeks were stained with tears as he wept into the cold night, he pulled his numb and shaking body up onto the rail of the bridge, his eyes focused on the water.  The cold water.  As he stood he heard it roaring, calling for him to jump, jump and toss his cares away.  His heart pulled him back as his eyes averted to the rose attached to his shirt, he wouldn't let her see him like this.  There was a voice, faint and coming from behind him in a coaxing and warm voice, like warm water.
"Come away, come away." but the river looked him sternly in the eye, screaming at him to jump.  To fall into the darkness and die.  "Come away!" The feminine voice said, agitated yet still sounding calm.  He turned and saw her, her dress long and floating to the floor.  "Don't do it Auré." but Auré could not bear it any longer, his heart torn in two ways, and it hurt.  They didn't know how much it hurt.  So his last words were, before he plunged into the water regrettedly,
"I'm sorry." and her last three words to him,
"Don't do it."
