saying good-bye when someone dies

Good-bye my friend I say to you
Good-bye til next we meet
My heart is heavy, my mind meanders
through each minor memory
remembering every little thing
There is no reason for what happened
you left us, never to return.
Grief is no stranger here
where everything is pushed together.
I can see all that cannot be,
all that will not be.
Yesterday, today, tomorrow......
all meld together in the shadows of my mind
Pain, anger, happiness, joy
all reside here too, waiting for the chance
to join the world.
Oh what a life we live,
so confused and hard to understand.
Oh if only life were full of joy,
of happiness, of passion and love
if only........ so many things
So many things will go unsaid,
so many days unlived
One mistake, mishap, calamity
oh what a mournful day it is.
So young, so full of energy and now silent forever
never to see the dawn, the mist rise above the valley,
never to touch this earthly realm
what a sad sad day it is
The memories we have of days long past
will always bring us happiness
You will live on within us
and we will forever hold you dear.
Good-bye dear friend I say to you
Good-bye til next we meet
