From the eyes of a child needing to get to his father in heaven
A little boy says a prayer tonight
As he kneels by his bed
His eyes shut and his hands clasped tight

Dear Lord,

This is Austin we talked a little while ago
I have a simple prayer for you tonight
This one I think you’ll like

Can we build a stairway to heaven?
I know  I’m young
I’m only seven
But I will work very hard

I have my tools that mommy bought
A couple years ago

I don’t want to see my mommy cry
Can we please
Please build this stair way to the sky

I have a plan I think will work
But I need you by my side

We can work together
I listen really good

It’s not just for me
It’s for my mommy to

You see, we need to get to heaven
That is where my daddy is

I need to talk to him
I need to give him a  kiss

Mommy needs a hug
And tell him how much he is missed

I’m praying really hard tonight~
Can we build a stair way to the sky?

I
