That was fun. Challenging, but definitely fun.
A way to describe how I feel with a
Belly full of grapes and cheese and crab.
Crampy perhaps, like I gorged at a picnic.
Dense and cold and delicious I loved
Every bite at the time, juicy and ripe.
For now though my tummy grumbles relief.
Great gasses released noisy and embarrassing.
However did we ever learn to live through our mouth?
Indifferent we act to our bodies as we gorge on calamari,
Just as we’re full, we torment ourselves with more baba gannouj.
Kindly we kill ourselves with food and sink.
Lower and lower into the abyss with our fill.
More and more we lust after delights and roam
Nighttime raids on fridges everywhere again
Opening and closing, with others or just solo.
Prepare to pay the price of opulence, don’t stop
Quickly before thinking of those starving in Iraq.
Run to our nearest store to buy wine and beer.
Stuff our bodies, our faces, and our souls,
Til we are sick and fat and relent
Until this meal, the next, we care only what’s on the menu
Victims we are of commercials, depression, loneliness and lost luv,
Whatever we feel we always put up a good show.
Xmas, holidays, celebrations anything at all to mix.
Yearnings, indulgences, addictions, and obsessions seem crazy.
Zest for food may be our undoing, at least until sleep we succumb zzzzz.
