A short song
Verse 1:
Behind the pain,
You see my face.
Welcoming,
Your sweet embrace.
The longing’s there,
It’s plain to see.
And yet you turn,
How can this be?
Chorus:
Pretending has always been your sin.
Pretending not to see within.
You doubt the truth behind my eyes,
And now you fill my heart with lies.
Verse 2:
You gave to me,
Just one dance.
It seemed I’d finally,
Got my chance.
But before I knew,
You walked away.
You’re saving me,
For another day.
Chorus:
Pretending has always been your sin.
Pretending not to see within.
You doubt the truth behind my eyes,
And now you fill my heart with lies.
Verse 3:
So now you’re gone,
You’re out of reach.
That wall of yours,
I’ll never breach.
I’m moving on,
There’s more to life.
I’m tired of all,
This grief and strife.
Chorus Revision:
Intentions can be wrong to begin.
Redemption is seen now within.
No longer am I standing in your eyes.
The dream ends, and now the longing dies.
