I do my best writing and thinking in nature. This simple poem reflects that.
Nature's Elite

Whistling winds tear at loose clothing
as I sit, listening
to waves beat against sandy shores and
birds singing as they fly overhead
or warble tree to tree.
The wind comforts and supports me
as it wraps itself around me:
a kitten seeks shelter in my arms.
I am not alone as nature
assimilates within me
and accepts me into its elite group.
I am surrounded by sand, water,
trees, birds and fish,
and a little kitten who shivers in fear
as the sand blows rapidly by.
I am safe here amid wondrous beauty,
warmed by the wind and
sheltered by the sand.
