be yourself, because people can tell when you arent being real
Maybe, maybe I tried to hard
To fit in with the crowd.
For what reason, I wonder now
Did I want that so badly?

I left behind my old friends
For the "new friends"
And the glamor of being on top
And the thrill of beauty.

Maybe it was for him, to impress
The kid I always wanted to
Notice me and then he did notice
Me and he even said hi and waved!

The thrill of it all, the wonder
Everything was finally coming together
I couldn't believe it and I even
Refused to talk to my old friends.

But then one day they told me
That I wasn't pretty enough or
Even skinny enough
For them.

And the guy I like didn't seem
To look at me anymore or even
Say hi to me anymore, it was like
He was only in it for the status.

But when I tried to crawl back
To the others, my old friends
They turned me away for
Abandoning them.

I pleaded and cried
But all they did was shut
Their ears and their eyes
And I was left behind.
