The poem can symbolize anything you're not enjoying and are trying to escape.
Cricket, can you see?

I ran through full grown fields of May
Watching the flowers flow calmly like drapes behind me
The sun shone while the air felt cold
Listening to the persistent crickets chirp
But not really hearing.
I tripped and fell
Laying helpless on the ground
No longer did the flowers flow beautifully
Serpent like, or so it appeared, they began to
Follow my fear, chase my shadow
Swallow my presence and belittle my existence.
From moment to moment, how I try to live my life
Unavoidable memories race through my mind
Flowers, crickets, memories from calm cool evenings of May
When the winds often change direction
I glances, panicked, and refused to see.
As if they were trying to ward me off
The sweet smell of spring soon semed sickly
My heart pounded uncontrollably
I knew what to do
Farewell cricket, and I ran.
I made a mistake.
