A short poem about people.
I WAS THERE by Andy Jackson

I met a Girl aged 17, She hid behind a TV screen,
And shouted things I found obscene, i’ll tune in again next week…

I saw a Boy of 9 and half, Telling jokes by the bypass,
His friends all seemed to laugh out loud, imaginary warming crowd…

I told a Friend aged 22, That there were many things to do,
But she just smiled and held my hand, and sung along to the live band…

I watched a Foe from 30 feet, Lose his balance on his seat,
And crack his head on solid ground, silence seemed to swamp the sound…

I climbed a Girl of 24, to fix the faulty bathroom floor,
She said that time will heal all wounds, and that the ice-cream fears all spoons,

I mind a Chap aged 41, he says that I should just have fun,
But we are not that close today, still friendship always finds a way…

I saved a Woman in 16 days, it changed our lives in every ways,
And something bigger came alive, born inside the human hive…

I caught a smile aged 58, and within found a sealing fate,
That we can moan all that we like, but time won’t slow down on that bike…

I Saw a Man of 95, my parents said he’s not alive,
But I still see him standing there, it could be me who isn’t where…

I cried myself a thousand tears, and sent them flying through the years,
Until my soul was all washed clear, and nothing else was left to fear…

I prayed for freedom a million times, offered myself up for our crimes,
But fate told me I’d have to wait, until an undecided date…
