First moment confusion spoken from your mouth
Staring into nothingness
The emptiness wraps itself around me
Everything dark
Everything cold
Nothing but a blur that I gaze on
The view of an unborn child
Grey; nothing simple
Nothing straight, everything merged

Blinded, I start running in circles
Running faster but still the same route
No destination, just a dead end
No place to escape, no hand to hold

I sit here,
Gazing at this page
Words mingled, scrambled
Nothing making sense
A cold and lifeless trail
Is drawn down the side of my cheek
A tear of fear, sorrow and anger

The shoving of shattered glass upon my heart
Cause my lifeless hands to quiver
Forgetting the present, the future,
Focusing on the past
For in the past nothing ever blurred
When one is mindless, one cannot see the obvious

With the passing of years, the opening of eyes
The obvious stood up and stared
As the finger of the clock paced on
I was drawn into shadows
Could no longer stand
No sunlight in sight

The last breath taken away
With nothing but a shattered breast
With a hand lowering to my face
And the sight of the eyes that gave me hope
I made the choice to carry on and retrieve what is mine
…my heart
