I poem about the brevity of life.
i saw
a shooting star flicker and die
as fast as a fleeting thought.
that’s when i realized how short
my life would be.

i watched
a sandcastle crumble
and i wondered how many people
were busy watching soap operas
on worn out couches not knowing
that today would be their last day
to live their own lives.

i see
the sun setting.
bleeding on the horizon
like the day’s last breath.
it whispers dying words to me,
“your life is now.”
