Poem about friendship. Title missleading.
The Line Up

We’re picking teams
I’m the captain of one
A friend is the captain of the other.
A curve ball is thrown at us,
Captions won’t pick, others will.
It doesn’t matter,
The athletic ability,
Because we’re playing a massive game of hide and go seek.
In team, sounds like fun right?
That’s what I thought,
Until one by one,
The people who I was sure would pick me,
Walked over to the other side.
As I watched them choose
To be on a different team,
I wondered why?
Why are they all walking away?
Why is no one choosing me?
To be on my team?
It’s hide and go seek
For goodness sakes.
Not dodge ball or soccer.
What could be so bad
So awful
That they all walk away?
As I watch them go I wonder
Should I even bother looking for them?
Yes, I know I will,
Because they are my friends.
I may not be theirs,
But they are mine.
As I cover my eyes,
And they run off and hide.
I know that I am not only going to go find them for the game,
But for myself.
I will always search them out,
Try to bring them back.
They can hide,
But I will always find them,
In my heart.
