One day, Jerry, a ten year old boy asked his good friend Mike a question.

Jerry asked Mike if he wanted to take a ride on the bus the next day.

Mike said yes.

Both boys thought it would be a lot of fun to sit in the last row of seats and look out the back window.

Early the next morning the boys got on the bus
and ran to the back.

They had the whole backseat to themselves!

They had a lot of fun looking out of the big window.

They even saw some of their friends playing ball in the park.

Pretty soon the boys got tired of riding on the bus and got off.

They saw an arcade and decided to play some video games.

They had some money from mowing lawns.

Later, Jerry and Mike got tired from playing so they went outside.

Both boys wanted to see a movie.

Mike wanted to see a scary movie and Jerry wanted to see a funny one.

They decided to split up.

Mike went to see the scary movie and Jerry saw the funny one.

Later, when Jerry came out of the theater he reached into his pocket to get money for the bus ride home.

He had no money left!

He thought for a while and then saw a policeman.

Jerry had a great idea!

Jerry asked the policeman to loan him enough money to ride the bus home.

Jerry promised to mail the money back to the officer.

The policeman gave Jerry money to get home and told him he would not have to pay it back.

He then asked Jerry where he lived.

“I live at 2500 Marshall Street”, said Jerry.

But Jerry made a big mistake.

He did not tell the officer the complete address!

You see, Jerry lived at
2500 SOUTH Marshall Street but
the policeman thought Jerry lived at
2500 NORTH Marshall Street.

So the officer told Jerry to stand on the wrong corner to get the wrong bus!

When the bus driver told Jerry they had come to the 2500 Marshall block, Jerry jumped off the bus and looked around.

“Wait a minute”, he thought.
“This isn’t my street”!

He walked around the block and saw porches.
There were no porches in Jerry’s neighborhood! He walked around again.
Everything was different.
What had happened?
Where was he?

All that walking around was making
Jerry very hungry and he started thinking about being home with his Mom and Dad.

Jerry was becoming very upset.
He had no idea where he was.

He wanted to go home.

Jerry turned and walked down another street. At the corner he found a very big building with a lot of steps.

He climbed up three steps and sat down.

Jerry started to cry very hard.

His face was full of tears!

Soon Jerry heard a car horn honking and honking.

He wiped most of his tears away and looked.

Right in front of that building was a police car!

The policeman was leaning out of the car and was

talking to Jerry!

“Hey there, little boy,
are you lost?”

Jerry sobbed but answered the policeman.

“Yes sir, I am”.

And then the policeman asked Jerry another question.

“Is your father’s name Victor?”

Jerry was so surprised he just sat there with his mouth wide open.

Finally he answered the policeman.
“YES”, he yelled out!

The policeman said to Jerry
“I know your father! Get in the car and I will drive you home!”

When Jerry finally got home his mother and father were so happy to see him they didn’t even yell at him for being away all day.

Jerry’s father was also happy to see his friend, the policeman.

The next day at school, Jerry told Mike what had happened to him and also the
three things he learned from his adventure.

First, always tell your parents where you are going!
Second, it’s not a bad thing to look like your
father or mother

and Third,

It’s good to know a lot of policemen!!!
