Swallowing Love Whole

Idiot.  Why did she have to give him, of all people, a Valentine’s card?

         Gregory snorted in disbelief as he stared at the heart-shaped letter.  It was stained red, outlined in a tangled mess of lace, and smelled of some putrid fragrance.

         Girls.

                   He couldn’t understand how Margaret could delude herself into thinking that he would appreciate it. 

         Tucked inside was a small chocolate kiss.

                   Gregory swallowed it whole.
