how it feels being an outsider
A cold door

Always on the outside
Never able to push open
The door to warmth, to people

They come, they go
Easily as the door did not exist
This door of glass, that keeps me out
Away from warmth and life

They come, they go
Barely noticing me
Never seeing my blue fingers
And broken soul through my blue eyes

Gasping for air, for life
I claw at the cold door
Pressing my nose to smell
What I can’t feel

Slowly, oh so slowly
The door is opened
I rush inside leaving behind
That cold door and world

Cold, colder than before
As they turn toward me
Not here am I welcome
It is not my place

I back up toward the door
Oh that dreadful door!
On either side of that door
It is cold, so cold!
