the story of a soldier's pride...check out the real song at myspace.com/magnoliaboulevard
“On your knees, son.
There’s no protection.
So where’s your savior now?”

The cold steel pressing
Upon a body
Who knows he won’t make it out

But if he stood right up and looked them in the eyes
Would he end his life but keep his pride?

And the rain falls on such broken bones
The blood flows and the mud never washes off

And he prays, “I will stand like the soldier I am
I will depart from these bones
I will look to the sky with no tears in my eyes
Because I will not go alone”

The war-torn warrior slowly rose to his feet
The soldiers surrounded him and pressed the barrel against his cheek

“Look around you, there’s no salvation here!”
He closes his eyes now, knowing there is nothing to fear

And he prays, “I will stand with open hands
I will discard all I know
I will put down my guns and there is no need to run
I am finally going home”

The sky was dark and the moon had rose
Silence so thick it could stick to the soldier’s clothes
With a steady pose and hard eyes, just before the last light left the sky, he said…

“If you run, put your best foot forward
But in the end, it makes no difference how hard
You try…you will never touch the sky…soldier, look me in the eyes!

Every hope every long lost dream of yours
Will return to haunt and rip you apart
And when your blood-soaked hands tremble in the night…soldier, remember these eyes!

So if you run, you will never catch me
(Even) If the trigger is pulled and this bullet pierces my body
I will still win this fight tonight…so pull your trigger; save my life!”
