Watching nature in action is always a treat!
LITTLE BROWN SQUIRREL

Little brown squirrel
I watch you scurry.
Where are you going
in such a hurry?

Climbing dark branches
with leaps and bounds.
Making your chittery
squirrely sounds.

Are you warning foes
to stay far away?
Calling your friends
to come out and play?

Little brown squirrel,
what is that you found?
Gathering chestnuts
you spy on the ground.

Cracking their shells
to enjoy the taste.
I watch you indulge,
no bit goes to waste.

Won't you be brave
and come by my side?
I try to get close,
you scatter and hide.

Little brown squirrel,
I must say goodbye.
I'll see you no more
when snow starts to fly.
