haunted peace

haunted peace, withering song
  carressing me gently
beside the lake

  seagulls soothing my eyes
floating ducks being sweet

    i want to touch them,
but it would disturb their poise

    i want to talk to them,
but their language is not mine
   
    so i sigh, wondering what
they feel and think
   
    and i embrace the wind
as if i were part of the earth itself

    for the first man did come from dust!
