A poem about growing up
I want to hold on to the past
...sacred memories.
I'm so afraid to let go
...to forget
all those times I was happy
...and sure.
I wish I could close my eyes
and return
to the carefree days
...of summer sun
...and ice cream in the backyard
to retreat from the black confusion of the real world.
...to remember those endless talks
...and when my worst fear
was not being in style
I'm afraid of losing
...my innocence
...my youth.
I'm afraid to lose me...
