Thirteen


Thirteen years ago today she was born
Two young hearts were torn
Her touch is still soft and, her soul still pure
She is growing into a special person thats for sure
Thirteen years ago “give me a perfect angel” I would plea
God did as I asked and, gave her to me
She was the most beautiful thing i had ever seen
And still the same at thirteen

Her beautiful heart is full of love
For those who are here and for those who reside above
Unconditionally she will give, she will love and, she will care
For that in a human this is rare
So I will protect her from all that is impure
And I will keep this enlarged heart safe that’s for sure
I will not keep her caged or sheltered for she is an inspiration for all to see
She is pure and, honest even still at thirteen

She is an Angel that god has sent to us all
Though she is only thirteen I know her call
Today is her birth day and, for this I have to shed some tears
I will do my best to keep her this way even through her adult years
So I will embrace these last few years I have left with her in my home
Because she is thirteen and well on her way to becoming grown
I will let her know that her dad is proud of her even when he does not say
And he loves her more and more every day
Happy Birthday to the lovely angel queen
Though daddy’s little girl today she turns thirteen
