Something I wrote on a recent mountain drive.
An out of the way parking lot
I pause to write her once again
This sleepy mountain town quiets my mind
So hard to appreciate the beauty around me
When she is not by my side
Dusk in this valley pales in comparison
To the brown in her eyes
The snow caressing the evergreen
Not as soft as her touch
Fireplaces and mountain air
Not as sweet as she
Shake your head and wonder why
I have felt and seen true beauty
I have kissed my dreams
I have savoured her whispers
I have seen heaven on this earth
So excuse my blues when she's away
Ignore that tear when our song plays
Time to run this truck back down the winding road
The city lights are over the next hill
I wonder if she is staring at the same moon
I wonder if the stars are as bright
I pray for the day she waits for the door to swing open
A tired man wraps his arms around her
Her kiss worth a long day alone
Her smile reflects in these blue eyes
Maybe one day....maybe
