I am an American by birth, and a mother by given birth, this was wrote after 911.
Oh, God, speak to me.
What am I to do?
The hours tick by,
and my son will have to fly.
Fly to a foreign land that we don't understand.
Will they receive him kindly or will I grieve blindly?
Every mother wonders, will I have to give the highest price?
Will this cost me my son or daughter's life?
And for what, What is this plight?
Is it ours to bare, is it ours to share?
And the heart of a mother runs scared.
Speak to me, oh Lord!
As I kneel before thee on this floor,
please, take me far from this door.
And if this is to come to pass,
guide his footsteps and his path.
Protect his mind and his heart,
that they never are far a part.
Guide his judgements and his hands,
keep him safe my young man.
