Memories of a lifeless string of pearls...
On my neck a string of pearls appears—
just pearls of plastic shine;
though I’ve kept them near my heart for years
I think they’ll never be mine.

Just pearls of plastic shine
they twinkled on my sister’s bed
I think they’ll never be mine
because I wore them in her stead.

They twinkled on my sister’s bed
I took them from her without a care;
because I wore them in her stead
I am now drowning in despair.

I took them from her without a care;
though I’ve kept them near my heart for years
I am now drowning in despair
on my neck a string of pearls appears—
