What will this journey reveal to each of us in its own way?
Please, sit down here beside me on this weathered log.
Ours is not a chance meeting; none ever are.
This moment has been destined for us, let it unfold
in the manner that our fates decree.
Let’s start unraveling the mystery of our encounter
with simple conversation and let it grow, or wither, from there.

My beliefs? Oh, if only I could answer that question fully.
My truths are incomplete, for I have not discovered them all.
I still seek; therefore I journey down the path at our feet.

I believe someone, a teacher, walks this path ahead of me
leaving signposts I can see if I conquer indifference
and allow childlike faith to clear my vision.
These tiny blazes, beacons if you will,
are rejoinders that the path I’m on is true.
They tug at my heart, they sing to my soul…
they are knowing what is right and what is wrong.
Though small and seemingly inconsequential,
every sign must be sought and observed.
Some bid me hurry…others bid me relax.
Others cry “Pause! Experience the place you stand!”

And so, I do.
And so, here we are.

Look about us. Aren’t the mysteries magnificent?
I delight in not knowing what the next moment brings.
I tremble with anticipation of the inconceivable.
I bow to the universe and humbly admit I know nothing
beyond what life and its source have benevolently shared.
I believe these the source of all wisdom:
A willing admission of ignorance and
a full opening of yourself to the lessons of life.
Reach out and clasp every experience!
Draw every conclusion; let life prove or disprove each,
for in either case at least you made a stand.
Speak up and be heard as a soft whisper of reason.
Help each defend their truth…even if it differs from yours.
Learn early that the experience is as unique as each individual.
These are minor lessons, but major truths for me.

What of love? Such pointed questions from one just met!
Our natural state is one of light, love, and laughter.
We are beings of light; our source is the same as Creation’s.
We soar on wings of every tint and shade of color
until we choose our earthbound passage,
to seek the truths we secreted away
for our celestial scavenger hunt.
Imagine, human with human awareness.
It’s a wonder we ever find our way back home.
Still, even now, we can bend and shape the light…
if we allow our unconscious to play in reality.
Seek your true self – look no further than within.
Chuckle at the whimsies of life – a laugh exercises spirit.
Sadness is an illusion created to fill a void in our emotions.
There is no sadness at the place of our beginning.
I know. What of love? I hesitate intentionally.
Love is the purest sentiment; the most difficult to discuss.
Poets have longed in vain to capture it in words…
Painters have abandoned hope of adorning canvas…
But, it can be observed – with the eyes of the soul.
Love is pure from the moment of creation, we cannot alter it.
Love is believing in someone just because it feels right.
Love is faith and hope and charity and kindness and concern
each given joyfully without thought of return.
Love is a candle’s soft light battling the darkness.
Love is a gentle touch, a soft word, and a kind hand.
Love is, and shall always be.

My silent friend…you remain so still, so smiling.
You seem of pure intent and in sweet harmony with life.
I know of you. I’m glad we’ve finally met.
I’m happy that I’ve finally caught up to you.
You’ve led me well, teacher.
