Poem: My opinion of Judgment Day
I watched her cry at night
And said nothing
I watched her get into fights
And said nothing

I watched her skip school
And said nothing
I watched her break the rules
And said nothing

I watched her jump into his car
And said nothing
I watched him drive her away far
And said nothing

I watched her walk the streets
And said nothing
Sell her body for something to eat
And said nothing

I watched her give up hope
And said nothing
I watched her O.D. on dope
And said nothing

Never did a word I say
Until I stood on Judgment day
I waited patiently my turn
to tell God why I should not burn

I went to church seven days a week
I did not sin, didn’t even sneak
And just to make sure that I stayed clean
I closed my eyes to everything

I was so sure that He would say
Well done, child, and I’d be on my way
But instead His head He slowly shook
As the angels announced I wasn’t in the book

Wait!
I owned three Bibles, no, make that four
I prayed each night till my knees were sore
I gave my offerings, paid my tithes
I didn’t curse, didn’t even lie
So please Lord, please tell me why?

Jesus frowned and then replied
But you never let Me come inside
I knocked and knocked on your door
Even camped outside on the floor

Remember the young girl who died?
How much she cried and cried?
She needed a friend to help her make it through
Which is why I sent her to you

But you closed your eyes and walked away
Never a word did you say
Never did you extend a helping hand
To lift up your fellow man

So in that moment you too rejected Me
And chose your final destiny.

I.....said nothing.
