A poem for those who have had love and lost love and everything in between
I saw it coming, I knew the date
When a broken heart would be my fate

Cross the Atlantic, my babe must sail
Through crashing waves of heaven and hell

The time was so near, but I ignored
How I would lose the girl I adored

While she was sleeping on our last night
I found myself in a woeful plight

As I laid there holding my best friend
It hit me at once: “This was the end”

So I held her on that final day
And could not find the right words to say

The rising sun and the morning dew
Backdrops the closing scene that we drew

Although it was painful, what fate dealt
It was worth all the love that we felt
