A poem I wrote after finding out my grandma was terminally ill.
Hold on to me, friend.
The night is cold,
And I'm afraid.
I'm afraid of myself,
Afraid to be alone.
I'm afraid, I'm afraid,
I am fucking afraid.

I'm afraid to wake up,
Alone in a nightmare,
Or to fall asleep,
And not be able to escape.

Hold on to me, friend.
You aren't obligated,
But please help me.
Tell me I'm not alone.
Promise I never will be.
Calm my fears, please?
