a vision from the hill of my mind
The Graveyard

In remembrance,
Beloved,
Stone angels who’ve forgotten how to cry.

Cold marble,
Simple markers,
Rise before me and fill the sky.

Now forgotten,
Faded flowers,
Run swift before the chilling winds.

Bent in sadness,
Mother Mary,
Prays eternally for our sins.

The words rise,
Into view,
Dust to dust upon a simple cross.

The statues,
Stare unyielding,
Through their tears of age and moss.

In remembrance,
Beloved,
Under protective angel wings they lay.

Cold marble,
Simple markers,
Forgotten and left for display.
