Rather personal, so not giving too much insight, poem explains itself in a basic sense.
I love you
These are the words I wish to speak
I love you
With all my soul
With the entirety of my being
Throughout my essence
Within the deepest temple of my heart
Unto the farthest reaches of my spirit
Each breath I draw, if only to sing of your radiance
Each tear I shed, if only to bear your pain
Each step I take, if only to remain at your side
Each blow I take, if only to remain your shield and protector, forevermore
The speech is formed, the words are ready
I open my heart, I bare my soul
I reach out, to whomever I find to return my affection, or, at least, to allow me to display the depth of my commitment.
But no one is there, nobody at all
My speech falls, half-whispered, into the darkness around
My words die, barely spoken, never heard
My heart bleeds out into the void
My soul recoils from the emptiness
My songs become cries of lament
My tears of sorrow fall like rain
My step falters, and I stumble to the side of the path
My shield of affection cracks, it’s power withered, and fists of despair break my body
I reach out with a battered arm, lift up a beaten face
With a hoarse and broken voice, I call from a bloodied mouth
My last, desperate, pleading cry reverberates through the emptiness, and is engulfed
Alone in the dark, my voice falls mute
Alone in the dark, my arm falls limp
Alone in the dark, my heart falls still
Alone in the dark, I die
