this is a poem I wrote about coming out of an abusive relationship.
Safe behind a door,
Locked and chained

Aching and sore all over
But good to know
That for once the pain and bruises
Aren’t from him

Ears open wide
Hearing a familiar laugh
That sends chills
Racing down my spine

Closing eyes,
Putting the images
And so many memories
Far, far from my mind
