poem about inner suffering
Cold Rain

The tips of lightning
dance upon the limbs of the trees
in the vast darkness of night.
Songs of the thunder cracked
like the fierce hands of gods
ripping the sky apart.

Rains beat heavily
on the bare head
of a boy crying in the rain.

He watched ever so helplessly
as the lighting danced
upon the trees
and listened as the gods sound
ripped the sky.

He sat helplessly in the rain
hiding his tears in the streaks of wetness
as he attempted to fill the new
empty void in his heart.

He thought of all the games that were played
with his delicate mind
and of the distortion that took place
deep in his heart
as the lightning danced upon the trees
and thunder shook the skies.

He began to think back
to a time long ago
a time were his heart was free.
But the pain he felt inside
for the black empty void in his heart
returned with every flashing light
and every booming sound.

He could not escape the storm
that changed the world around him.
And the world deep inside of him.

He lingered in the cold rain
as it beat upon his
bare chest
his mind
slowly slipping away.
And he no longer knew
if he were laughing or crying

He lied himself down
in a deep wet puddle
on the hard black ground.
And watched the yellow
line move back and forth
as on final bright flash
of light erupted
in front of him.
