To my children, Heather, Nathan and Jordyn
Whispering voices into the night.
Secrets are shared in the soft moonlight.
A well worn path from door to door
countless good nights, sweet dreams and more.
Splashing in puddles and dancing in the rain.
Swaying in treetops with no fear of pain.
Hands to hold while crossing the street.
Shoes passing yearly from feet to feet.
Sisters share first secrets
and tales of new love.
Tears from a broken heart
and an understanding hug.
To laugh with and cry with
and be silly without a care.
Someone just to sit with
or curl each others hair.
All of us now with families of our own.
Shoes to tie, noses to wipe
and kisses to be thrown.
And now . . .
We sit and listen to the whispers in the night.
Smiling at our children in the soft moonlight.
New secrets are shared by both young and old.
Sisters are a treasure as priceless as gold.
