a poem in honor of the fallen at the Virgina Tech shooting on April 16, 2007
Shots ring out
screams shatter the quiet
death comes

A serious face
behind a gun
with the intent of spreading hate

Life fades
from the fallen
and escapes to the heavens

Tears of blue
form pools
beneath our feet

With the tears
comes grief
and with grief, the memory

We will remember
the fallen
of today
