This is a poem about a song.
Memories come back
Almost bringing tears
Things half forgotten
Buried many years

That old familiar song
The radio sings to me
The one that belonged
You claimed to only you and me

You are a demon now
One who steals my sleep
From the quiet darkness
After I pray the Lord my soul to keep

I can't turn it off
I can't even speak
Bottled up so tightly
The pain may burst or leak

Out from where I hide it
Each and every day
Sometimes for a moment
I can make them go away

It's just the radio
It did nothing wrong
You can't hurt me anymore
But something can-it is the song.
