A poem about dreams and the better version of yourself.
In my bed,
In the privacy of my room,
Lights turned off,
I am my alter ego,
The girl I was never meant to be-
Or was I?
She is not afraid,
Not afraid to stand up and believe in herself
She has no shell, no other life to hide,
No secret so deep that Truth or Dare is no longer Truth or Dare, but
Dare or Don't Play
I fall asleep- I dream of myself- my alter ego.
Now I- or is it she?- am a warrior,
Her- or is it my?- weapons are everything from
Longbows to swords to dowel rods to gossip- dreams are strange
I wake up- I smile at the remembrance of my dream- of me
I squeeze my eyes shut tight, imprinting the memory in my brain-
The dream is over.
I am myself.
