Spring on the Wet coast...
drowsing on the transit home from work
landscape streaming by with 'burbs
punctuated by tiny strip malls
my eyes seek out the daffodils and crocuses
that are signalling the beginning burst
of spring that my winter-starved soul
has been craving for - my eyes dying
for colour in the endless grey and wet green
early sunset signals the symphony of red and purple hues
that draw the curtain on the close of day
i wish i could open the window my forehead rests on
that I might hear evening birds
