Acrostic poem about lost love
You Said You Loved Me…

You said, “I love you”,
On that first night while making love.
Unsure of my own feelings, I lay silent.

Slowly, ever so slowly, you brought me to where you were.
Against another starry night, I proclaimed the same.
“I love you”, I said, gazing deeply into your dark eyes.
Demanding nothing, expecting everything.

You said we’d last forever and I believed.
One day, suddenly, you took it all back.
Unbearable pain, the only thing left.

Leaving me all alone to pick up the pieces,
Over and over I wondered what I did wrong.
Visions of what could have been, what will never be
Entertained themselves in my head.
Dead dreams in a dying heart.

Melancholy memories are all that remain,
Erasing all else, leaving an empty spot on my heart.
