The primary life of the English Tudor monarchs.
Henry the eighth was an English king
Marrying women was his thing
When one of them, a male heir denied
His love for them quickly did subside
Henry the eighth was an English king
Marrying women was his thing
Henry was the younger son
And so his destiny was not over done
Luckily for him his brother was weak
And died after being King but a week
Young Henry was then given the crown
And swore that he would not let the kingdom down.
Catherine of Aragon was his first wife
In this marriage, she endured much strife
For she had a daughter named Mary
And this didn’t sit well with good old Henry
From her, he quickly ordered a divorce
For this Henry, left the church by force
Anne Boleyn was his next prize
She was known for her dark eyes
“A son, a son” was all she’d say
Even ‘til her dying day
For you see, she was beheaded
Another daughter was named Elizabeth, King Henry dreaded
Jane Seymour was his next wife
She had an extremely short life
She gave Henry lots of joy
When she gave him a small boy
And was smart to die soon later
Before Henry had a chance to hate her
Edward was now the heir
And he was put in extensive care
Henry’s last three wives weren’t main
But they gave him lots of fame
Anne of Cleves was his next pick
Whom he divorced very quick
Kathryn and Katherine were his next two wives
One was killed the other survived
A few years later the great King died
His people greatly missed his gallant stride
Since Edward the heir was just a boy
He didn’t express very much joy
         Edward’s uncles took control
And ruled the nation as a whole
Until Edward was of age
To take the nation and engage
Over the years he grew more pale
And eventually became very frail
The doctors couldn’t help him at all
And he finally had to fall
Little Lady Jane Grey was next in line
She was too scared to even decline
Not many people excepted her as queen
And they were all incredible mean
After nine days she was taken away
And spent many days in the tower with nothing to do but pray.
Even though she was innocent blood
Her head pounded in the basket with a thud
Mary, Henry’s first born
Took the nation and never mourned
She ruled for five years straight
And killed many Protestants with great hate
She locked her hated half sister Elizabeth up in the tower
And gave her none of her intended power
After a few years she wed the prince of Spain
He refused to love her in return and she gained lots of pain.
She tried many times to have a son
But in the end she new she was done
To her regret Elizabeth was the only suitable heir
And gave her kingdom away with great care
She begged Elizabeth to honor her requests
And then she died and Elizabeth said yes
Elizabeth finally took her place
Along side her father in palaces of grace
And even though her mother was a victim of his wrath
She didn’t let that mess with her path
She reigned for many years
And over them she heard many cheers
The people loved her in that way
And she never ever led them astray
Shakespeare wrote in her time
And England altogether climbed
All her life she stood up tall and refused to wed
And she ruled the kingdom with her heart and soul until she was dead.
Elizabeth was the last of Tudors
But so their legacy dwells
They became some of England’s greatest rulers
So most of the world can tell
