One's obsession w/ death
This Undying Fascination;
how it reigns my every thought.
I'd like to think I'm really living
and not some joke in one huge plot.
That plot, it thickens, with each new day
bringing fresh new complications,
Into a life that knows no different
than this undying fascination.
I silently await the day,
although with no hurried anticipation;
the day when I shall see the end,
the last of the sun's illuminations.
And though it seems unfair to think
that with you, I cannot soon share;
the sights and sounds that linger nearby,
beneath cold earth and heaven's lair.
And if you, too, shall question fate
and what she has in store,
she may just answer your hollow question,
knowing your answer can be shared no more.
And so I ponder this one last passage,
should I be in fear or with much elation?
Life after death or eternal darkness?
This Undying Fascination
