A poem about being stuck with something you would rather let go.
The flames engulf this shattered heart of mine
When I think of the memories so divine
They fuel the flame that's filled with shame
The fire cackles and calls my name

It drags me deep beneath the surface
It leaves me there, I serve no purpose
I'm filled with fear because I fail to hear
Your wise whisper in my ear

I am surrounded by the glowing fire
To escape this place is my lone desire
The swirling sensation of sweet temptation
Completely defeats my determination

My body goes limp as I lie on the floor
I lie there wishing that I had more
With each lesson I learn, longingly I yearn
For the painful pleasure of the burn
