Hope for a marriage tested by war.
They say all is fair in love and war
But, is war fair to love
My soldier went to war loving me
And now he don’t know, he can’t see

So cold and unfeeling his job must be
But, to show me the same is hard on me
I know he does what he must to survive
But, only in warmth can love thrive

I love my soldier with my heart and soul
I want to live and love , together grow old
I want to laugh and dance
I want a little romance

I hope in the end
I have my husband , my best friend
To have and to hold
Only in time will my fate unfold

So much confusion
The fear, a brilliant illusion
The war came to me, to destroy
But, I will fight gallantly

To give up I will not do
I will do anything to keep my boo
In good times and bad
In happy times and when mad

I am proud of my solider
He is so strong and brave
He fights for his country
While I fight for him

My soldier will return
Till then I will let the home fires burn
I will welcome him home with love and grace
Just happy to daily see his hansom face
