i usually don't go this simple but i think it works
i lie here, the rain unrelenting 
the thunder pounding so, 
i reach for your side of the bed
then remember I'm alone.
   
you're sleeping somewhere far away
to the new place you call home, 
across the ocean, to the skies 
wherever you may roam. 
   
now instead of loving arms 
that i could come home to,
i only have an empty bed 
and memories of you.
