This poem is about a daydream while looking up at the sky and really finding yourself.
The Night Sky

The sky is colored a ghostly grey,
a tragic end to this golden day.
A world of darkness has been opened
and stars reflect off the shimmering ocean.
A moon of pearls hangs in the midst
and gives the clouds a silver kiss.

Beneath the moon-kissed sky I write,
reflecting under stars of white,
Of life and love and flying dreams,
Of hope and sadness and broken wings.
Gliding through time on a pencil
and tracing over memories I've stenciled.
reflecting what I used to feel into the present,
yet finding not one afterthought to resent,

I sit staring at that sky
watching silver threaded clouds float by,
lost in a trance of music inside me,
Searching for a perfect key
to life and love and those flying dreams
and why you can't reach them with broken wings.

Rain drops drip down from the grey
and thundering waves begin to play.
I look into the moon for answers.
In reply the wind breaks into laughter.
I become consumed by fear.
The ocean wells...
Emotions swell...
Out rolls a tear.

Darkness and its pain surrounds me
and I shudder so hard it make the ground quake.
My body trembles, as the night still glimmers
and the cold air soothes me.
Into the warm sand I bury my toes.
I swallow my pride and lose control.
I sound my voice into the night air
and let the wind whip through my hair.
I let everything go and open my soul
to every possibility,
This night sky has brought to me.
