Someone who had it all and lost it.

Queen Of The Cardboard Box

Weaving through the alleyway,
wheels squeaking on her cart.
Living out these leaner days,
soda cans are now her art.

Once she was quite rich you see,
married to a wealthy man,
but when he lost his money,
far away is where he ran.

People stare and pass her by,
avoided like chickenpox.
Once she was a rich man's wife,
now she's wearing mix-matched socks.

Since her heart was torn apart
she's grown a very thick skin.
No one's paying attention
to the condition she's in.

So as things go, she is a sight,
frumpy hat on snarled locks.
There's no Rolls to take her home,
she's queen of the cardboard box.
