I'll Paint for you this painting.

I’ll paint you something special
I’ll paint you something grey
I’ll paint you something meaningful
Then watch it fade away.

I’ll paint you the world
I’ll paint you the sky
I’ll paint you the life of mine
In a sprite’s keen eye.

I’ll paint for you something
Truly unique
I’ll paint the life of the secret spirit
A whisper as it speaks

I’ll paint for you this artwork
A splendid mix of shades
I’ll paint for you this painting
And steal your life away.

And within this painting
I’ll hide my very soul
None will understand it
Beauty as the eye beholds

And without this painting
You’ll see the life I grew
A dead tree, death is starving
A life growing roots

Within this painting you will find
A hint of colour,
There
Shades and shadows
Lights and darks
It mixes everywhere

You see a tree, a willow oak
Grown long and shady sighs
The fountain of branches reaches
The tips of the very skies

And on this tree,
You will find
Green and growing
Sparkling, new
But along the faded edge of grey
Look, I implore you

Here along the horizon,
The side of every line
Death and decay reaches
The end it does define.

My tree, my beauty, my soul
Courts death
Always, always
Death offers
Its brittle flower
A symbol
Of its
Beauty.
