This poem is for my true love.
I stare at you and you look back,
The same blank stare as always.
I used to use you to stay on track,
         wasting away all days.
You speak as much as you ever did,
a silence that once spoke volumes and
kept me warm in my continued loneliness.
Always, when no one else would, you listened.

Then I abandoned you,
I turned away thinking I could move
         on without you.
For a while it was nice,
I didn't miss it as I neglected all the
         things you'd done for me.
And now that I'm ready you're still here,
awaiting to listen once again to what I
         have to say.

And now, as I caress you for the first
time in what seems like a lifetime I
realize how much I love you.
The one that has loved me always,
the paper that has been my sanity
will once again bleed with the ink of my heart.
