a pretty poem
I am the fire and the rose
I wonder how many leaves can be on a tree
I hear the petals fall within the glass casing
I see the fire destroy the thorns
I want the thorns to grow and protect me again
I am the fire and the rose

I pretend to be strong
I feel the warmth of the sun
I touch the thorn that protects the weak
I worry there is no strength left to change
I cry the rain that extinguishes the fire
I am the fire and the rose

I understand the wilting life
I say there is always darkness within the light
I dream of never-ending time
I try to revive what is lost
I hope in the chance of tomorrow
I am the fire and the rose
