it's three am and he's keeping me awake

3 AM, I’m watching you
You’re looking out the window
I’m tired of all this distance
And the things that don’t go right

We’re stuck here at a red light
Your figure widens in my eye
I think we need to end this here
But I’m not sure I can…

Nothing seems to shine on us
Nothing goes one certain way
I’m lost for words all the time
And I’m tired of not knowing why

But I know that I can’t help,
These feelings I have for you.
And it’s times like now that,
I can’t help but want you here

3 AM, I’m thinking of you.
Your face and your smell lingers in the air.
I know it’s wrong for me to hold on,
But I can’t help but want this to work.

I’m not sure why I can’t sleep.
My thoughts race around you,
And my heart keeps on breaking,
While the bus keeps us moving.

I’m trying to sort out my feelings,
And yet things aren’t going easy.
I’m trying to fit a square in a circle,
And you’re not trying to stop me.

I never meant to kiss you,
Or be the last one in line;
But for that I sit at 3AM,
With your thoughts on my mind.
