Spoken word, yay!
My mouth molds and murmurs
tailored words cut to fit,
caustic calls of silence spit
from tethered lips
chained to a framed mind
carefully trained to avoid a fight.
So take this silence for what it really means;
so many things.
There's no opposition
to this juxtaposition
of you and I
so let the hidden meanings fly.
Emotions never spoken aloud,
sealed shut tight, screaming to be let out.
Always, however, my absence of speaking,
this absence of sound-
absinthe colored ground
falls up to meet me.
Halfway, I remember you
and wish there was something to say or do
to get my feelings through,
to change the situation.
And even though my desperation
grows, I think we both know
how these stories go.
So sit back and watch the
stars paint their names in the skies,
as candy-colored lights
reflect in your eyes
and everything stays silent,
including You and I.
(I never wanted to say, "Goodbye.")
